After a transfer to Azoyires this tour starts with a short, arduous climb to Asfendiles. From there you will cross elevated meadows that present impressive views to the White Mountains. Your journey continues through cattle rich Prodromi, a spectacular descent to the charming village of Anidri, through a short gorge and then back to Paleochora.

Towards the White Mountains
Strati - Kamaria - Souyia

This route starts in the tiny mountain village of Strati. A short climb leads to Temenia, a natural thermal spa and producer of mineral water, and the beautiful church of Sotirou Christou. Cycle on to the pretty villages of Maza and Kamaria. Then make the impressive descent into the Irini valley with spectacular views of the White Mountains. Finish your tour at the boulevard of pretty Souyia, where you board the ferry back to Paleochora.

Pretty Villages in the Voutas Valley

Your fascinating trip through authentic Crete starts in the former regional centre of Voutas. From there climb narrow lanes through tiny hamlets to Sklavopoula, an elevated village with many stories. Make the spectacular descent back to Voutas and from there to Paleochora.

Churches, Spa's and Sprudels
Kandanos - Temenia - Prodromi - Paleochora

Start in the attractive village of Kandanos. In the fertile valley around the village are dozens of small medieval chapels with centuries old frescos. Visit a few of them before you start the climb to Temenia through the last remnants of the mountain forests with large oak, plane and chestnut trees. Temenia is regionally known as a healthy spa and producer of the widely known Temenia-Lemonades. From Temenia the route goes through the meadows higher up the mountain slopes and you will be fascinated by the spectacular panoramas towards the White Mountains. A long formidable descent brings you down to the villages of Prodromi and Anidri before ending up at Paleochora’s boulevard.

Moustakos – Lakkos - Sklavopoula – Koundoura – Paleochora

Total Distance: 36.1 km.
This tour is a real challenge to test your fitness. The start is deep into the mountains in the isolated village of Moustakos (550 m.). Here begins the climb of 6 km. along a seldom used, narrow asphalt road to the top of Mount Lakkos (1018 m.). The end is an army post at the top of the mountain from where you have commanding views over Southwestern Crete. The reward for the effort is a 1000 m. descent over 18 km. mainly over wide tarmac roads down to the greenhouse village of Koundoura. The last 6 kilometers back to Paleochora follow the coastline.
