After a transfer to the village of Voutas, the walk starts following a well-defined track into the Pelekaniotiko valley which is dotted with spring flowers and leads to a steep rocky slope where several vultures nest each year. The next stop is the authentic hamlet of Ayia Triada. From there descend slowly to the beautiful Azurro Beach.

After a transfer to the village of Azoyires, the walk starts with a steady climb to the ‘cave of the 99 Saints’, a spot of legends. The cave proves to be much more than a simple cavern, it is a complex of huge cracks of intriguing beauty high on the mountain slope. Next stop are the ruins of a small fort dating back to the Ottoman domination; an amazing location with formidable views. A long and gradual descent along a century’s old mule path – only recently cleaned and restored by Paleochora Nature - brings you back into Paleochora.

This relaxed short walk is a perfect introduction into the pleasures on foot that Crete can offer. A short transfer brings you to the start of the walk close to the tiny hamlet of Vasilaki. Nearing this attractive village you will be surprised by its wealthy greenery and beautiful old houses. From here an old mule track brings you to the antennas on top of the mountain Kerea (365 m.) with stunning views over Paleochora and the south coast as far as the White Mountains above the Samaria Gorge. An easy descent takes you back into Paleochora.

A transfer brings you to the village of Azoyires, where you can find refreshments at the local kafenion. The huge plane tree and the monastery tell the legend of the 99 Saints. From there you walk to the picturesque Anidri village with the graceful medieval church of Agios Georgos. Be surprised by the descent through the attractive gorge of Anidri to enjoy the sandy Gialiskari Beach at the end, which is a perfect place for a refreshing swim. The dirt road back to Paleochora will take an hour.

After a transfer to the village of Spaniakos, the walk starts following the old mule path from Spaniakos to Azoyires. After a refreshment is the village kafenion you can visit the local Museum exhibiting stories of saints and local history. From there you decend slowly to the next village of Anydri with the interesting church of Ayios Georgios. Dirt roads and a steep descent over an old mule path bring you back to Paleochora.
